Barrett Olafson is a systems thinker and collaborative leader working at the intersection of technology, sustainability, and stakeholder-driven change. He currently manages Spark Climate Solutions’ livestock enteric methane mitigation program, where he leads roadmapping efforts and builds partnerships across science, industry, and policy to accelerate progress in agricultural climate solutions.

With over 15 years of experience leading digital product and engineering initiatives, Barrett has managed global teams and delivered high-impact work for organizations including the Bank of New York, The Emmys, and multinational brands such as Levi’s, Carhartt, Under Armour, and Leatherman. His work is grounded not only in technical fluency, but in a people-first approach cultivating trusted relationships, aligning diverse teams, and helping mission-driven projects scale through systems-level thinking.

Barrett is also deeply committed to supporting the next generation of climate professionals. He actively mentors individuals navigating career transitions into climate work, particularly those coming from adjacent sectors like tech and product development, helping them find meaningful pathways to impact.

His formal education includes studies in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Meteorology, Mathematics, and Physics. He has over 30 years of coding experience, with current interests focused on how artificial intelligence and machine learning can support sustainable, equitable solutions to complex challenges.

Based in Pittsburgh, PA, Barrett lives with his family and draws daily inspiration from the natural world balancing professional work with gardening, homesteading, and a deep commitment to sustainable living.
